Lost in a Book: A Poem

When the pages rustle and the stories unfold,
I’m completely in my own little world.

Engrossed in each line and charmed by the plot,
That I eagerly await is my new prized pearl.
Time falls away but I barely take notice,
As my imagination is consumed by the tale.

The comfort of being lost in a book.
Takes my angst and provides me safety to sail,
The pages keep turning, the characters remain alive,
The sweet offering of delight never does cease.

My happiness swells and my worries dwindle,
As I’m enraptured in this completed peace.
For here in my arms I can hold the book,
This treasurable escape from life’s grind.

Getting lost in a book is my pleasure.
It soothes my heart and helps my soul unwind.
