Hello everyone! Because it’s 2024, I am going to share some of my new year’s resolutions for this year. Please forgive me for waiting this long to finally post some of my new year’s resolutions. And also, please feel free to add some of my resolutions to your list! Here we go!
1: Read at least 50 books this year
I made this goal a lot more accomplishable than the summer of 2021. Looking back on that idea—with My Book List for Summer Vacation 2021, I realized that it was a good idea. But, to be honest, I was pushing myself too much. Especially for a 9-year-old. I will turn thirteen this year. And I know for a fact that I can read at least 50 books in a year. (I literally read 57 books in just a summer break.).
With my little experience, I know it is important to have a goal that you can actually accomplish. This way, you don’t lose that motivation. But it is also important to have a goal that actually pushes you. So you don’t lose interest. This having been said, I am going to eventually post a book reading list for this year too.
2: Use a Planner for school and for after school
Last year, I was introduced to the idea of keeping a planner for school work and events by one of my electives. The planner was really useful. But then I got into the habit of not writing in it. You see, when I wrote in it, I was reminded of the events and the homework that I had. And when I started to slip off that habit of writing in it, I noticed that I often remembered about an assignment at the last minute. So this year, I don’t want that to happen and risk my grades. Especially since I picked up another advanced course that is pretty challenging and requires a lot of work to get out of it. So therefore comes the planner.
3. Drink more water!
I think I struggle with this one sometimes. But it is really important for me to improve on this goal, especially this year because I took on athletics for my school. So what I plan on doing this year is finishing my water from my bottle in athletics. Then, before the end of school, I finish my water bottle for the second time. And then, when I get home, I can make myself a flavored drink that I enjoy, and I drink a bottle of that. And since my water bottle holds 20 ounces of water, it is perfect for me to drink three times of that because the average amount of water that a teen should drink is 60 ounces.
4: Learn a new word every week
I honestly really want to expand my vocabulary. This would be really helpful for me in both school and my personal life. So I plan on learning a new word every week. This could be a word that I have rarely heard. Or it could be a word I have heard of but don’t know the meaning of. For this goal, I will use Merriam Webster’s Word of the Day as a guide.
Get Better Grades
Even though I am pretty good at this myself,. I want to get better at this. I usually get 90’s and above, which is not bad, but this year I really want to focus on getting 95’s and above. Especially in my advanced courses. This will really help me get a better GPA, which in turn will help me get used to this kind of stuff, so by the time I am in college, I will have a good history of my grades.
