What are Rainbow Foods or Colorful Food ?
Rainbow foods include vegetables and fruits of different colors of the rainbow. You should eat healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, but it is okay to eat junk food at certain events but junk at breakfast, lunch and dinner every day is not healthy.
Why should we eat rainbow foods ?
Adding color in your diet ensure that you are getting enough fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants that help protect us from diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart disease. It helps you with the lack of bone density, digestive problems ect.
Fruits and vegetables usually include many vitamins, antioxidants, fibre and they also have few calories.
Red: beets; red carrots; radishes; tomatoes, red peppers, watermelon, cheery blood oranges
Orange: carrots, oranges ,orange peppers, butternut squash, pumpkins, watermelon
Yellow: yellow peppers, tomatoes, sweet corn, yellow carrots, banana
Green: lettuce, spinach, peas, beans, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts
Blue: Blueberry, grapes, eggplant, blackberry, plums
Violet: Purple tomatoes, violet pepper, purple cabbage, purple carrots
