Hello everyone! I hope all of yall are doing great and having a great summer. Today, I am going to share a book summary of a book that I consider a classic—The Hunger Games.
This book is an amazing book that I read in 5th grade for my book club book and fell in love with. The Hunger Games is actually a series that consists of four books, with a fifth one coming out in 2025. I would say that the age group for this book/series is 5th grade and up (ages 10+).
This dystopian book is written in the perspective of a Sixteen-year-old protagonist, Katniss Everdeen. She is living in the Nation of Panem in futuristic North America. Panem is divided up into 12 districts. To maintain their hold on their districts and citizens, the Capital requires each district to select a boy and a girl tribute to compete in an event that is nationally televised called the Hunger Games.
When Primrose Everdeen-Katniss’s sister is selected as district 12’s girl tribute, Katniss immediately volunteers to be the girl tribute instead of her sister. The boy tribute is Peeta Mellark, someone Katniss knows from school and someone who saved her and her family’s life by giving her bread when her family was starving. Together, they are forced to fight against 22 other tributes to the death. Will they make it out alive or will they die trying? Read The Hunger Games to live and fight side-by-side with Katniss.
