Restart by Gordon Korman – Book Summary

Hello everyone! In today’s post, I will give yall a summary of another book. The book that I have chosen this time is Restart by Gordon Korman. I would recommend this book for ages 10 and up. But without a further await let us get started!

Chase Ambrose a 13-year-old star footballer at Hiawassee Middle School wakes up to discover that his life has been completely erased and he must start over from scratch. He can’t remember anything or anyone.

The three people around him in the hospital room turn out to be his mother, brother, and doctor. There his mother explains how he fell off the roof of his two-story house. As a result, he is diagnosed with acute retrograde amnesia. He remembers how to speak, think,  and move, but he has no memory of people or events from before waking up in the hospital except one very vague memory of a blond little girl in a blue dress.

Slowly Chase learns about the old Chase and he certainly doesn’t feel proud of what he hears. Now the new Chase gets a chance to redeem himself from all the bullying he has done. He must choose his friends and the way he behaves wisely. And he must prove that he has changed his ways.

A little later on in the year, Chase decides to join the video club. There he is appreciated for his capable cameraman skills. He also reports to Portland Street Assisted Living Residence. Before his accident, he and his friends commented on a prank that went a little too far. As a result, they were ordered, by the court to carry out community service.

Even though he is excused from community service because of his amnesia he still thinks he should do it. After all, it is only right. There Chase makes tries to work to help and connect with the people who live there.

The book is made up of many different perspectives. The perspectives include Shoshanna Weber, Joel Weber, Kimberly Tooley, Aaron Hakimian, Bear Bratsky, and Brendan Espinoza.

Is Chase really a better person now? Read Restart to find out!
